Frané Lessac photo As a child, Frané Lessac always wanted to be an artist. She spent many weekends in New York City browsing through museums and art galleries. At school, her art teacher considered her "unteachable" because her lines were never straight, but now her paintings hang in galleries and collections around the world.

Frané moved to the Caribbean island of Montserrat where she began her career as a painter, later moving to London and eventually to Australia where she now resides. She's illustrated over forty books for children, drawing on her travels as her inspiration. Her greatest ambition is to instill pride and self-esteem in children about their unique heritage and their own ability to capture in it pictures and words.
